This series
of books is based on five good friends who all work within the crime field in
San Francisco. There are currently 12 books in the series with the 13th
coming out May, 2014. The characters include Lindsay Boxer the homicide
detective, Claire Washburn the medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt the assistant D.A
and Cindy Thomas the reporter from the Chronicle. The 4th book
introduces a new member to the club Yuki Castellano the district attorney. These
five women are bright, very successful and solve a lot of murders in San
Francisco. With the club solving murders and sending a lot of people to jail,
this puts a target on the clubs back. Each book has its own story, but the
personal things that happen to each club member carries on to the next book.
James Patterson does a great job adding personal touch to each ones lives. For
example Lindsay Boxer’s marriage is in trouble water, and she turns to her
friends for advice on what to do.
I chose this
series because as women we know that it is important that we have at least one
close girlfriend that we can really count on and know that we can talk to her
about anything and she wouldn’t judge us on our mistakes. These books show the
strong bond that club has in terms of “best friends” but also has the murder
suspense story that keeps you reading.

Hi Rachael--
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of James Patterson. I normally read his Alex Cross series but have fallen behind. I have not read this series which is weird because I love female detective books such as the V.I. Warshawski series by Sara Paretsky and the Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton. I will give these a try.
